CKE Restaurant Holdings, the parent company of Hardee's and Carl's Jr., has partnered with three tech companies, Presto Automation, OpenCity, and Valyant AI, to implement drive-thru artificial intelligence in some of its restaurants.

The tests conducted at unspecified numbers of CKE restaurants showed improvements in labor productivity and other benefits. The company operates about 2,800 Hardee's and Carl's Jr. locations in the US, offering the potential for large-scale adoption of drive-thru automation.

The technology aims to automate employee tasks, improve order processing speed, and accuracy, resulting in reduced wait times for customers and increased efficiency for staff.
