Freeman Foods and JW’s Foods received Rural Innovation Grants from Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority to boost online ordering systems. Both grocers were among 20 grant recipients, with each awarded $25,000.
Freeman Foods will upgrade technology at its Wellman and North English locations to enhance online ordering, pick-up, and delivery services. JW’s Foods will install a locker system for online orders at its Kalona store.
These grants aim to support small businesses, food producers, and companies seeking to expand beyond Iowa. The initiative is part of the Empower Rural Iowa program, distributing over $275,000 in funds.
